Fussy Eaters

  • Fussy Eating Groups – Sequential Oral Sensory Feeding Program (SOS)

The Fussy Eating Groups programme is for children aged 3 to 7 who are eating only a small variety of food. The programme aims to increase a child’s ability to tolerate new foods, and to chew and swallow food.

  • The Child Development SPOT Fussy Eating Groups are based on the Sequential Oral Sensory Feeding programme, an evidence-based approach that was developed by Dr Kay Tommey, a psychologist in the USA, in conjunction with speech pathologists, occupational therapists, dieticians and paediatricians.

The programme is delivered at the Child Development SPOT clinic in Warrnambool, with children participating in a small group programme with a therapist. Parents watch and participate with their child, which forms an essential part of the programme. Parents learn the strategies therapists are using in the group programme and the SOS approach, which helps them understand why their child might be having difficulties with feeding and eating. It is also an opportunity to learn strategies that can be used at home. The SOS programme can also be modified and conducted in the home environment with an SOS trained therapist.

If you are interested in the Child Development SPOT Fussy Eating Groups then please contact us. Places are limited and we run the programme only when we have reached a minimum number of participants.
